The Last of us Part 1 has received its second PC patch

Patch 1.0.1.6 has arrived for The Last of Us Part 1, the game’s second hotfix patch since the game’s launch on March 28th. This patch is designed to add more diagnostics tools to the game (to assist developers in improving the game), while making multiple changes that are designed to improve the game’s memory systems and performance.

With update 1.0.1.6, Sony has decrease the PSO cache size of The Last of Us Part 1 to reduce the game’s memory requirements and reduce the number of “Out of Memory” crashes that gamers face. Additionally, there have been changes to animation streaming memory to increase the game’s performance in certain instances.

Sadly, upon retesting The Last of Us Part 1 with this new patch, we have not noticed any major changes to the game’s performance. The Last of Us Part 1 remains wildly CPU-limited, even with patch 1.0.1.6.

A new hotfix for The Last of Us Part I is now live. This update addresses fixes that improve memory, performance, and more.

• Decreased PSO cache size to reduce memory requirements and minimize Out of Memory crashes
• Added additional diagnostics for developer tracking purposes
• Increased animation streaming memory to improve performance during gameplay and cinematics
• Fix for crash on boot relating to game save files
